A World of Possibilities in the Film Industry

A trip to the Irish Film Institute for “IFI Careers in Screen Day” was organised as part of the LCA Drama module.

The trip included a screening of the film Bad Sisters and a panel discussion with director Dearbhla Walsh, executive producer, locations editor, actors and young cast.

It was a full day event where pupils took part in different panel discussions with Jeannet McGrath, Script Supervisor (2023 Oscar nominated The Banshees of Inisherin; Three Billboard Outside Ebbing, Missouri) and actress Sheila Flitton (The Banshees of Inisherin).

Other discussion panels included "My job as a Stunt",

"What does a producer do?", Art Direction, "Costume Design with Louise Stanton"

(2023 Oscar nominated An Cailin Ciuin).

The day closed off with an enriching talk with professionals from the National Talent Academy to discuss the multiple known and lesser known career paths in the film, drama and theatre industry.

The LCA students had the opportunity to participate actively during and after the discussion panels, asking questions, having informal chats and taking pictures with the guests and participants. This was undoubtedly a great opportunity for our Chanel students to make connections in the film industry.

Thanks to Ms Lopez for organising and overseeing the day.
