The Chanel College u19s football team started the New Year with a hard-fought victory over St. Declan's College in the quarter final of the North Dublin League on Friday 6th January.
Both sides scored 2 goals each in regulation time. Chanel College conceded a penalty in the 11th minute of the game. However, a well taken goal from Sean Hayden equalised the score after 22 minutes. Chanel took the lead on 47 minutes with a goal from Scott Lynch. St Declan's levelled up scores after 60 minutes.
Despite numerous chances for Chanel, the match went into extra time. Sean Connor put Chanel in the lead after five minutes of extra time. Chanel took the upper hand creating chance after chance to score but failed to extend their lead. At the full time whistle the score remained 3-2 to give Chanel the win.
Next up is a semi-final match against St. Paul's Raheny on Tuesday 17th January.
