Congratulations to our TY film makers who took home the Best Film Award in the Rubbish Film Festival 2026 - Dublin City Regional Awards.
Schools from around Dublin made films about climate change and sustainability.
Chanel College won for their film ‘Pass The Parcel’.
This creative and engaging film explores the issue of paper waste, highlighting how everyday habits can lead to unnecessary waste and environmental impact. Through a clever concept and strong storytelling, Pass the Parcel encourages viewers to think more carefully about how we use and dispose of paper in our daily lives.
A huge well done to the students and teachers involved for producing such a thoughtful and impactful film.
Their success even made the front page headlines in local paper, Northside People.

They then went on to compete in the Rubbish Film Festival – National Film Awards on Wednesday March 22nd in the Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield.
Twenty schools from across Ireland reached the national finals after winning their regional and county competitions, and the awards ceremony celebrated the incredible creativity, storytelling, and environmental messages in their films.
During the National Awards, which were live streamed, all the finalist's films were showcased to celebrate the students’ achievements.
Other schools won out on the day in the national competition, but it was an incredible experience for the lads to stand on stage and introduce their film to the entire audience in an Oscar style ceremony.
Hollywood watch out - who knows where this will lead this extremely talented and creative group of students ...
