The following is an account of the opening matches of the season for our Badminton Team, written by TY student Max McCann.

Great Start to the Season for Chanel's Badminton Team
On Wednesday, the 26th of November Chanel College's Under 16s and Under 19s teams started off their badminton season in Kilcock, County Kildare against Scoil Dara.
The Under 16s started the day off with their single matches where Nathan Keith, Patrick Dunphy, Andrei Jauca and Ben Bryne put out an impressive performance against a tough Scoil Dara. This is where Ben displayed amazing talent and had a staggering win against his opponent.
This was followed by their double games where Nathan and Patrick narrowly lost out on a win. While Andrei and Ben were victorious and won their game. Throughout their games, the lads were being kept motivated from the sideline by Cian O’ Rourke and Max McCann along with Mr Sekar and Mr Seabrook.
Next up it was time for the Under 19s Single games where TJ Colmey, Joe Preston, Justin Rankin and Alvin Abraham took to the court. The lads put out a stunning performance where Alvin and Joe left the court with a win.
The Under 19s then played their doubles games. Where TJ and Joe teamed up and had a staggering win against their opponents, and Alvin and Justin teamed up and unfortunately lost their game by the skin of their teeth. This concluded the Under 19s games for today.
The Under 16s then had one more school to play. The boys went out onto the court determined to win their singles matches after tireless practice between games. The lads all came out of their games successful with their stunning act on the court. Their doubles games went brilliant as well where Nathan and Patrick smashed their opponents in an epic match.
The lads put out an amazing performance today in all of their matches where they went out and did Chanel really proud. All of their training after school on Wednesdays has really paid off.
