Mr McGonigle brought our attention recently to the success of Chanel student Sean Hayden in making the Republic of Ireland u16s squad. Sean started for the team in their 3 games in a friendly series in Spain over the last couple weeks with games against Norway and Spain.
It is a huge achievement to make the squad and put on the green jersey to play for Ireland. Only a very small elite group of players from all over the country make it past the trials and training to be included.
Sean is currently taking a year out to focus on football and complete a football coaching course. We wish him well and look forward to welcoming him back next year.
