Positive Gaelic Season in spite of Leinster Semi Final Disappointment

The Chanel Senior Gaelic Football Team's season came to an end last week at the Leinster Semi Final Stage. Confey Community College beat our lads 0-15 to 1-5 on a cold windy day. The better team on another day, we hit too many wides and committed too many basic errors to get over the line.

This shouldn't take away from what was an excellent season. Sam Hayden kept a tight ship from his goal and maintained a clean sheet in the final. Ahead of him, Brandon McDonnell, Dara Wilde, Sean Connors, Alex Dunne and Karl Popa stuck tight to their men, barely allowing them to breath! In the half back line, some tough performances from Luke Fitzpatrick Towell, Aaron Dixon, Aaron Hughes, Reece Proudfoot and Cillian Clarke got us through the early rounds.

Jack Lynch, Callum Greene and Karl Halligan controlled things in centre field. Karl's injury came as a huge blow to the team.

Ahead of them, Aron Cooling, Luke Gifford, TJ Tighe, Shane Maher, Karl Barry, Sam Herbert Coyne, Callum Egan and Sean Maher dealt with some rough opposition play while providing the points to put teams away. Adam Lynch, Jason Campbell, Josh O'Connor, Jake Sheridan Sesay and James Keating scored a few points but a shocking amount of goals throughout the campaign!

The team had some great performances, a special congratulations to Sam Coyne Herbert, Karl Barry, Sam Hayden, Jack Lynch and Callum Greene who finish up their Gaelic Football career with Chanel College.

The rest will be back again next year. Hopefully a full strength team will get us all the way. Thanks to David Corbett, Kieron Howard Curley, Jack Manhood, Sean Baker and Bobby Doyle for their help throughout the season.

Finally a big hats off and thanks to coaches Green and O'Sullivan, whose time, dedication and encouragement helped bring the team so far. Well done all round.
