On Tuesday 28th of November, five Chanel College students participated in a Debate Blitz organised by the Association of Spanish Teachers. The event took place in St. Benildus College, Stillorgan.
6th Year Spanish students Aaron Freir, Glenn Caffrey, Daragh Callaghan, Evan McCabe and Ross Carolan were working hard during and after school hours to prepare their motion in Spanish. This is the first time students from Chanel College participated in a Spanish debate.
Students were against Coláiste Choilm (Tullamore) defending the motion "tenemos que poner límites a la IA" (we have to put limits on Artificial Intelligence).
Students showed great oratory skills. They developed excellent content and vocabulary related to the topic. The team was congratulated for their great performance. Ross Carolan was awarded best speaker winning a prize for being "el mejor orador" of this blitz against Coláiste Choilm.
Afterwards, the students expressed that the experience was "challenging enough but also very rewarding" and they were very happy to be the first Chanel students to participate in a Spanish debate.
Congratulations to all the students for their performances, dedication and participation and to Ross Carolan for winning best speaker. Enhorabuena.
