Students from Chanel College recently participated in the NVIDIA Instructor-Led Workshop: Fundamentals of Deep Learning hosted at TU Dublin – School of Enterprise Computing and Digital Transformation. This prestigious professional development and student learning event brought together participants from 7 second-level schools, with a total of 77 students and 13 teachers attending the hands-on AI workshop.

As part of the programme, Chanel College students successfully completed the training and received the NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute (DLI) Certification, valued at approx. €425, providing industry-recognised credentials in artificial intelligence and deep learning fundamentals.

The workshop introduced students to real-world applications of AI across sectors such as healthcare, retail, transportation, and automation. Through practical sessions in computer vision and natural language processing, participants trained deep learning models from scratch and explored pre-trained models to understand modern AI workflows.

Key Learning Outcomes Included:

  • Understanding core deep learning concepts and neural network architectures

  • Training AI models using real datasets

  • Applying data augmentation techniques to improve model performance

  • Using transfer learning for efficient model development

  • Building confidence in working with modern deep learning frameworks

This initiative was supported by the Higher Education Authority (HEA) Performance Fund, School of Enterprise Computing and Digital Transformation, and the CSinc Research Centre at TU Dublin, reflecting a strong commitment to advancing AI education at second level.

Chanel College is proud to support innovative learning opportunities that prepare students with future-ready digital and STEM skills.
