Comfortable win for u15 soccer team

October 22, 2019

Our u15’s soccer team had a comfortable home victory on Monday 21st October against St Declan’s of Cabra. After a shaky start St Declan’s took the lead, but the Chanel lads didn’t let that faze them. They hit back instantly with great pressing from Sean Gorman and Alex Lynch at full back to allow Niks Balmaks to score from a resulting corner.

Luke Fitzpatrick, along with James Keating controlled the midfield with the former scoring the second, giving Chanel the lead. TJ Tighe was unlucky with a free kick hitting the bar but Sean Gorman was quickest to react tucking the ball in from close range. TJ then got his reward from great play through Joshua Baker and Luke Senior Madden defending from the back with Ben Evans and Cian Bradley creating space across the midfield for TJ to score his first of the day leaving the score 4-1 at half time.

In the second half, the lads continued to add to the scoresheet. Niks and TJ both added their second goals from great build up play through a combination of Sean Eivers, Karl Popa and John Maxwell. Niks then completed a wonderful hat trick which resulted in a great win for Chanel College.

Final score 7- 1 to Chanel.

Team: Josh ‘Schmeichel’ Griffin, Sean Gorman, Joshua Baker, Luke Senior Madden, Luke Fitzpatrick Towell, Cian ‘Lionel’ Bradley, Ben Evans, James ‘when in doubt, put it out’ Keating, TJ Tighe, Niks Balmaks, John ‘5 star skiller’ Maxwell, Eugene Amisi, Karl Popa, Sean Eivers and Jake Sheridan.
