On Wednesday the 18th and 25th September, 6th year Construction Studies students went on two very informative and educational trips to a John Paul Construction site where they are building a multi-storey car park on the grounds of St Vincent's University Hospital.
John Paul are also involved in constructing an on site pharmacy on top of the existing hospital. The pharmacy is made up of steel frame construction encompassing a clean room construction and the associated fit out, mechanical and electrical works for the pharmacy operation.
Upon completion of the walking tour of the above works, the students were given a Health and Safety talk which was shaped in relevance to previous Leaving Certificate Construction Studies Health and Safety questions. This was extremely beneficial as it gave the students the opportunity to hear some practical and current solutions to real life health and safety issues.
On conclusion of the walk and discussions, John Paul put on lunch for the students to round off a very constructive day!
