Sports day took place on Friday 24th May and was a great way to round off the year for students and teachers alike. There was a lovely atmosphere around the school and across Parnell’s pitches and even the double booking of the astro athletics track didn’t dampen spirits. Ms O’Connor quickly improvised to set up a running track on the big pitch and we were ready to go in no time.

There was great participation from all years, particularly 5th years and competition was close amongst all the classes especially on the fo...

After a lot of design and work on their formula 1 cars, 1st year woodwork students raced them in what has now become the Annual Chanel Grand Prix on Monday 20th May. Monaco eat your heart out, this turned out to be a very competitive event, full of twists and turns and spectacular crashes!

There were prizes for Best Crash, Best Made, Best Design and overall Champion.

Spectator support was electric and could be heard from the other end of the school!

Mr McGonigle and Mr Brady were very strict race marshals.

All first years who maintained a good behaviour record during the last term, went on the 1st Year trip to Tayto Park on Thursday 16th of May. They were accompanied by their form teachers, SNAs and Year Head Mr Deely. The Cu Chulainn rollercoaster was as popular as ever, with most of the students doing it several times over. Many more braved The Power Surge and being turned completely upside down at high speed. There were lots of thrills, thankfully no spills, the sun shone and everyone had a brilliant day out....

Hard luck to the Chanel u16 Hurling team who lost the Top Oil Dublin PP Sch Jun H "D" Final on Wednesday 15th May. They put in a brave fight, but St Marks, Tallaght came out on top on the day.

A huge credit to the team to get so far, especially after putting in a sterling performance in the semi-final to give us the first major hurling success in Chanel in the last years.

A big thanks to Ms Walsh and Ms Sweeney for organising training and all their hard work and support during the year.

Players wore the new C...

Thirty 1st year boys from CUS and Chanel College shared a bus from Dublin to Dundalk on May 9th where they were warmly welcomed by the staff and students of St. Mary’s for a Marist Ethos day.

The day began with the students explaining where their schools are located and naming local landmarks with which the other students might be familiar with. We established that CUS is at the top of Grafton street and Chanel college is 15 minutes from the airport. Also Coolock village is not a village in the traditional coun...

15 Transition Year students travelled to St Mary's College, Dundalk to take part in a Marist Workshop on Tuesday 7th May.

Joined by students from the third Marist school, C.U.S Leeson Street, the lads enjoyed an active, reflective and fun day.

A fantastic presentation on Chanel College was made by our students to open proceedings. Themes thrashed out included, what it means to be a Marist school, prayer in the lives of students and how students can best live out the Marist ethos.

A massive thank you to the team in...

On Saturday 30th March, forty four 1st years and their four leaders Ms Whelan, Ms McGowran, Mr McGonigle and Mr McManus gathered in Parnell’s GAA coach park to embark on their six-day trip to France.

The excitement was high as everybody checked in and soon we were all aboard Joe Moroney’s coach for the short journey to Dublin port. After a little delay, we boarded the shiny new W.B.Yeats ferry, found our cabins and gathered on deck for a photo opportunity and to say Au revoir l’Irlande. Thankfully it was a very smoot...

On Wednesday, 1st May Chanel College hosted the annual MEA debate for 1st years. Eighteen students from St Mary’s College, Dundalk, C.U.S, Leeson St and Chanel College were faced with the challenge of participating in an intensive debating competition. For the first time ever, students were arranged into six teams of three rather than competing individually. Each team was made up of students from the three Marist schools. This allowed students to get to know each other and work together collaboratively....
